Let’s Give (Wo)Men a Chance conference in November

Slavenka Drakulić will participate at the conference Let’s Give (Wo)Men a Chance organized by the Open Society Fund. The main purpose of this international conference is to explore current trends in two important areas – equal opportunities and domestic and gender-based violence – and enable the comparison of the trends from both regional and international perspective.

The conference will take place in Hotel International at Prague, Czech Republic, November 7-8.

Slavenka Drakulić will participate in the opening discussion with Torild Skard, Norwegian psychologist, politician and former Chairman of UNICEF, and Agnès Hubert, president of feminist think-thank Gender5+. Moderator of te discussion will be Monika Ladmanová, Adviser of Věra Jourová, the Commissioner for Justice, Consumers and Gender Equality, European Commission.

An article about 1989 on Public seminar

Public seminar has just published an article Once Upon a Time in 1989. According to their website, Public Seminar follows in the spirit of The New School’s legendary General Seminar, founded by the original scholars in exile, who came to The New School fleeing Nazi and Fascist repression.
